Naval architect John Lu founded the Horizon shipyard in 1987. In the early years Horizon operated with merely 30 employees beginning production with a 46' motoryacht.
Today, 20 years later, Horizon is one of the 10 biggest shipyards in the world and well known in America, Europe and Asia as state-of-the-art producer of one of the finest lines of yachts available today. Horizon yachts are custom built at the Horizon yard in Taiwan where a truly international effort has blended top quality specification and project management, elegant design, and the value and craftsmanship for which Taiwan is renowned. The Horizon yard, located in Kaohsiung, Taiwan, is the largest and most modern yard in Taiwan being twice the size of its nearest competitor. Having delivered over 400 vessels worldwide, Horizon has now grown to over 1,300 employees in 6 different facilities.
